HOW DID Aryna Sabalenka become famous?

Sabalenka became a major force through WTA titles and doubles success before breaking through in singles at the 2023 Australian Open. She defended that title in 2024, won the US Open in 2024 and 2025, and established herself as one of the tour’s most consistent hard-court champions.

BEFORE THE FAME

Aryna started tennis at six almost by accident when her father Sergey drove past courts and decided she should try the sport. She developed in Belarus and emerged internationally through powerful, high-risk tennis that initially produced both spectacular winners and difficult stretches of inconsistency.

CLOSE WITH (ASSOCIATED);

Coach Anton Dubrov has been central to Aryna’s mature championship years, while her former doubles partnership with Elise Mertens produced major titles including the US Open and Australian Open. Rivalries with players such as Iga Świątek and Elena Rybakina have also defined the top of the women’s game.

Personal LIFE and Relationship

Aryna’s father Sergey died in 2019, a loss she has carried through the most successful years of her career. She is recognizable for the tiger tattoo on her left arm and enjoys reading, sweets, family time, and her grandmother’s cooking. She has publicly shared parts of her romantic life, but tennis, family, grief, and competitive evolution remain the more durable elements of her biography.
