HOW BIG IS Sophie Nélisse ON THE NET?

Sophie Nélisse has roughly 1 million Instagram followers as of September 2026. Yellowjackets remains a major source of online attention, while newer work has introduced her to additional audiences. Her verified Instagram combines professional updates with a more relaxed side of her life than viewers see in Shauna’s intense storyline.

HOW DID Sophie Nélisse become famous?

Sophie won major Canadian acting awards for Monsieur Lazhar while still a child and then starred as Liesel Meminger in The Book Thief. Years later, playing teenage Shauna Shipman in Yellowjackets gave her a second major breakthrough and proved that her early success was not simply a child-star moment.

BEFORE THE FAME

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Sophie moved to Montreal when she was four and grew up speaking French. She initially trained heavily in gymnastics before acting opportunities took over. Her younger sister Isabelle also became an actress, and their mother eventually left teaching to manage both daughters’ careers.

CLOSE WITH (ASSOCIATED)

Yellowjackets links Sophie creatively with Melanie Lynskey, who plays the adult Shauna. The two performances have to feel like the same complicated woman separated by decades of trauma, while Sophie’s younger ensemble—including Sophie Thatcher and Jasmin Savoy Brown—created the intense teenage survival world that turned the series into a cult obsession.

Personal LIFE and Relationship

Sophie comes from a close French-Canadian family and is the older sister of actress Isabelle Nélisse. She is fluent in French and English and has retained strong ties to Quebec even while working internationally. She keeps current romantic relationships relatively private, so family, friendships, travel, and her long evolution from child actress to adult performer offer more reliable insight than dating speculation.
