HOW DID Hannah Hidalgo become famous?

Hannah became a star immediately at Notre Dame, winning ACC Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman. She continued adding All-America honors, ACC Player of the Year awards, the Nancy Lieberman Award, and national defensive player-of-the-year recognition while setting an NCAA season record for steals.

BEFORE THE FAME

Hannah grew up in Merchantville, New Jersey, and starred at Paul VI High School, where her father Orlando coached her. She became the school’s all-time leading scorer, won New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year, and shared MVP honors at the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Game before arriving at Notre Dame.

CLOSE WITH (ASSOCIATED)

Hannah’s Notre Dame career is closely tied to coach Niele Ivey, who trusted her with major responsibility immediately. She has also shared the backcourt with elite teammates while repeatedly crossing paths with JuJu Watkins; the two shared McDonald’s All-American Game MVP honors in 2023 before becoming two of the defining guards of their college generation.

Personal LIFE and Relationship

Hannah is the daughter of Orlando and Tamara Hidalgo and grew up with siblings in a close basketball family. Her father’s role as a coach helped shape the relentless defensive style that later became her national signature. She keeps romantic life private, while faith, family, competitive intensity, Team USA experience, and her close relationship with teammates provide a much more grounded view of her life away from the court.
